Hal leaves John for dead, who later suffers severe burns in a car explosion, but Zoe later saves and heals him in the hospital with alien technology. Hal confronts Kerry, who begs him to leave town before Zoe destroys Rushville, but he refuses. He later meets Antaan and convinces him to pursue William. Antaan and his men attack William's ranch, where Antaan kills William after realizing he is not the Manhunter. Hal tries to stop Zoe after she orders orbital strikes that destroy Rushville, and also stops Antaan when he detonates himself. Hal returns to the motel to recharge his ring, but John ambushes him in an attempt to take it. Zoe calls in a strike that destroys the motel, trapping Hal in the debris. She arrives to kill him, but John fatally shoots her from a distance. He takes Zoe's heart and Hal's ring, leaving Hal behind. John then meets Lianna in a bar, where he hands her the heart and the ring, and declines her offer to become the Green Lantern.
