Cassowary: 180 Days From Egg to Forest Giant | The Deadliest Bird

Cassowary: 180 Days From Egg to Forest Giant | The Deadliest Bird. Deep inside the ancient rainforests of northern Australia, a remarkable journey begins with a single turquoise-green egg. This cinematic wildlife documentary follows the life of a Southern Cassowary from its fragile beginning to the development of a powerful forest giant. From hatching beneath the protection of its father to following him through dense rainforest, the young cassowary must learn where to find food, how to navigate streams and difficult terrain, and how to survive in one of Earth's most challenging environments. As the months pass, its tiny striped body changes. Its legs grow stronger. Its feathers darken. Its blue and red neck begins to appear. And the strange helmet-like casque on its head develops as the young bird slowly transforms into one of Australia's most remarkable rainforest animals. But the cassowary is more than a powerful bird. It plays an important role in the rainforest ecosystem by eating native fruits and dispersing their seeds across the forest. From a tiny hatchling to a towering forest giant, this is the extraordinary journey of the cassowary. Every life has a story.
