While visiting Rocky Mountain National Park I was made aware that I was near the origins of the Colorado River. Knowing that was the case, I found out that this trail paralleled the river for a bit. Despite the day being long, and the light rain, we headed out.
This is a short out and back trail with a loop at the end. My plan was to go out, do the loop, and then come back, but it was taking me longer to get to the loop portion of the trail than I anticipated. Because we decided the plans I originally had for the day were not feasible, we ended up here. Terry was waiting for me on a bench, and I still felt guilty for taking so much time on what turned out to be unreasonable, so I turned around and headed back. If I get back to the park, it is my goal to complete the trail.
This was an incredibly beautiful trail and I enjoyed it immensely. Knowing I have a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon scheduled for next year, it was my goal to cross the river without getting my feet wet. I managed to do so, thus finishing the hike.
