Barberton, OH - Federal Enterprises Thunderbolt 1000 - Short Alert - 8/29/20

Basic Information: Siren: Federal Enterprises Thunderbolt 1000 (Installed in 1954) Town: Barberton, OH (Summit County) System: SWSCOG Siren System (Barberton, Copley, & Norton are all apart of this system) Location: Barberton Municipal Courthouse Tested: Every Saturday at 12:00 PM (SWA-October; Not dependent on weather) Cycle: 30 Second Alert Uses: Tornado Siren Other notes: This weekend, I had been really wanting to hear a Thunderbolt 1000, more specifically, one of Youngstown's Jailbars. Unfortunately Ohio is getting all the rain and storms from Hurricane Laura, and Youngstown doesn't test if it's supposed to rain the day of the test. I called EMA, and for ONCE someone answered! I almost didn't call because they never answer. This was the first time the answered as a matter of fact. When the EMA dude told me they weren't going to be testing, I decided to head on down to Barberton to get a better video of the Bolt (I do plan on recording Youngstown's Bolts soon, as I'm not sure how much longer they'll be around). My video from last year wasn't the best, so I decided to get a better video of it. Throughout the video, you may be able to hear the 508 at the elementary school. Overall a good test, still healthy, and still loud as ever. Some dude and his dog "Sammy Doodle" also sat at the bench down the street and decided to watch the Bolt. Siren went right at noon on the dot too which was nice. All in all a good test, and this should be the last recording of this siren from me for a while. Enjoy!
