ABOUT ZMEY GORYNYCH In Slavic mythology, Zmey Gorynych is the great three-headed dragon of the mountains — a winged serpent of fire who descends from the Sorochinsky peaks to burn villages, steal maidens and challenge the bogatyrs of old. Each of his heads breathes flame, each can be severed and grow anew. He is the guardian of the Kalinov Bridge over the river of fire, the threshold between the world of the living and the realm of the dead. To face him is to face chaos itself.
