God erected the middle wall of partition to separate Israel from the Gentile nations and to establish Israel as His chosen nation through whom He would reveal Himself to the world. Through the Law, covenants, circumcision, and other ordinances, Israel was distinguished from the Gentiles (Exodus 19:5-6; Romans 9:4-5). This separation served God's prophetic kingdom program and demonstrated humanity's inability to attain righteousness apart from Him. When Israel rejected her Messiah and God later revealed the mystery to Paul, Christ's death removed this barrier (Ephesians 2:14-16), allowing believing Jews and Gentiles to be united in one new body, the Body of Christ, where there is no spiritual advantage for either group. Thus, the middle wall was originally erected by God to maintain Israel's distinct position in prophecy and was later removed in the present dispensation of grace to form the Body of Christ.
