BWCA in OCT--Knife Lake Region--Historic Root Beer Island and Isle of Pines. . .

This video documents a traverse from Birch Lake through to Knife Lake, just SE of the famous Root Beer Island. LaTourell's provided motorized transport from Moose Lake to the Sucker/Birch Lake portage. The time is mid-OCT and the weather turned cold. Eventually, the wind-tunneling effects of the east/west-orientation of Knife Lake halted our eastern progress and necessitated an about-face in order to get back to the extraction point on time.
