Today my grandma's edible chrysanthemums had me thinking about my great-grandmother. 🌼 Weekly grocery run, kerosene for the winter, and a Halloween party for one — pumpkin salad and a ghost made of rice. 🎃👻 (It's supposed to be a ghost. Can you tell? 🤣) A quiet Halloween, spent with someone who still lives in my heart. 🌱 I hope you enjoy a quiet autumn day in Tohoku with me! ───────────────────── ▶ RECIPE ───────────────────── 🌼 Edible Chrysanthemum with Mozuku Ingredients (1 serving) ・Edible chrysanthemums — as needed ・Vinegar — a little (for boiling) ・Mozuku seaweed in vinegar — 1 pack ・Ginger — to taste, grated Instructions ① Remove the petals from the base and pick out any bugs or dirt. ② Boil water, add a little vinegar, and cook the petals for a few minutes. ③ Rinse in water and remove any remaining debris. ④ Squeeze out the water well. ⑤ Mix with mozuku seaweed in vinegar and top with ginger. ───────────────────── 🎃 Pumpkin Salad Ingredients (2–3 servings) ・Pumpkin — 1/4 ・Cucumber — 1, thinly sliced into rounds ・Salt — for rubbing the cucumber ・Bacon — as needed, cut into strips ・Mayonnaise — to taste ・Bouillon powder — to taste ・Salt & pepper — to taste ・Black pepper — to taste Instructions ① Microwave the pumpkin until soft. ② Thinly slice the cucumber into rounds and rub with salt. ③ Cut the bacon into strips and fry until crispy. ④ Mash the softened pumpkin. ⑤ Add the bacon and well-squeezed cucumber. ⑥ Season with mayonnaise, bouillon powder, salt, pepper, and black pepper.
