Psalm 119 begins its long walk through the law of the Lord. How shall a young man cleanse his way? By ruling himself according to your word. Open my eyes that I may see the wondrous things of your law. In Second Kings, the Shunammite woman comes home after seven years of famine. Gehazi is telling the king how Elisha raised her son, and there she is. The king gives back her land. Then Elisha goes to Damascus. He looks at Hazael and weeps, because he knows the evil Hazael will do to Israel. John says this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith. Whoever has the Son has life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Today's lessons are read from the English Standard Version.
