A Sweet Ice Cream Design with Mixed Media | Handmade Birthday Card | September

This month's handmade birthday card, I painted one of my favourite things... ice cream! 🍦 September is my birthday month, so I wanted to create something simple, playful and full of character. Using loose watercolour, rubber stamps and coloured pencils, this card slowly came together with soft textures, wonky lettering and one unexpected surprise along the way. While adding the final coloured pencil details, I accidentally smudged part of the stamped message. For a moment I wasn't sure what to do, but instead of starting over, I decided to experiment. That little accident ended up changing the whole design, and reminded me that sometimes creativity begins exactly where our original plan ends.
