Welcome to Hikeaholics ! Chay, Nutty Nanny and Lee here.
Today, we are off to the village of Potter Heigham in Norfolk to walk around Thurne and Repps with Bastwick. We start and finish at the village sign next to Lathams on Bridge Road, Potter Heigham, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR29 5JE.
From the village sign we head towards and cross over the bridge. It’s then a right turn following the Weavers Way signs and along the riverbank path. We continue along the path, passing behind riverside properties before seeing Repps Drainage Mill on our left side. We follow the Weavers Way signs and the riverbank path passing Thurne Drainage Mill and alongside Thurne Dyke into Thurne. At the end of the dyke is the Lion Inn, where we turn right and then a quick left still following the Weavers Way signs. After walking through the farm we continue straight and leave Weavers Way.
We continue straight until we arrive at and pass the Community Wood, where we turn left and walk alongside the Wood on our left side. We head along this path and cross over Repps Road, following the footpath signs. We the walk through a woodland area with a small dyke on our right side. Once we leave the woodland and enter a field, we head straight along the grass track towards a bench and a beehive. We then cross the next field following the footpath signs. At the end of this field we cross over Staithe Road and onto another footpath which we follow. At the flint house, make sure to keep to the right and continue along the footpath into Bastwick.
At the thatched cottage, we turn left onto Low Road and follow this until we turn left onto High Road heading towards Potter Heigham. We follow the footpath and cross over the road at the Causeway, still following the footpath signs alongside the Causeway. It’s then back over the bridge over the River Thurne and back towards the village sign.
