Simply put, it means that some lines are bold and thick, while others are thin and light. This variation helps the viewer’s eye distinguish different elements more easily and creates a sense of depth and three-dimensional space. 2. Purpose of Line Weight Line weight is used to achieve several goals: Hierarchy Bold lines → important elements or objects closer to the viewer Thin lines → less important details or distant objects Depth and Distance The thickness and darkness of lines are used to suggest spatial depth and foreground/background relationships. Form and Contour The main contour of a form is drawn with stronger lines, while internal details are kept lighter and more delicate.
