*The Fear of the LORD Means Obedience | Serve the LORD with Fear | Psalm 2:11* What does it mean to *fear the LORD**? The Old Testament shows that the fear of God is much more than an inward feeling. **True fear of God becomes visible in the way we obey God and in the way we live.* Abraham gives us a powerful example. When he obeyed God's command concerning Isaac, the LORD said, *“Now I know that you fear God”* (Genesis 22:12). How was Abraham's fear demonstrated? Through his *obedience**. His life teaches us that obedience is not merely something produced by the fear of God; **obedience becomes evidence that we truly fear God.* The fear of God also changes the way we treat other people. In *Genesis 20:11**, Abraham feared that where there was **“no fear of God,”* people might commit terrible injustice. In *Genesis 42:18**, Joseph showed mercy toward his brothers and declared, **“I fear God.”* The fear of God therefore affects not only our worship but also our **character, relationships, integrity, mercy, and treatment of others**. *Exodus 20:20* gives us an important distinction. When Israel trembled at Mount Sinai, Moses said, *“Do not be afraid,”* but then said that God's fear should remain before them *“so that you do not sin.”* There is a difference between simply *being frightened of God* and **living in the fear of God**. **Terror asks, “How can I escape?” The fear of God asks, “How should I live before Him?”** This helps us understand *Psalm 2:11: “Serve the LORD with fear.”* To fear the LORD means to recognize Him as God, accept His authority, worship Him, obey His Word, turn away from evil, live with integrity, treat others rightly, and bring our whole life under His rule. *The fear of God is an inward recognition of who God is that becomes visible in an outward way of life.* So the important question is not only, *“Do I say that I fear God?”* but also, *“Does my obedience show that I fear God?”* *Scripture:* Psalm 2:11; Genesis 22:12; Genesis 20:11; Genesis 42:18; Exodus 20:20 *Theme:* Fear of the LORD Means Obedience #FearOfTheLord #Psalm2 #Psalm211 #ServeTheLord #Obedience #BibleSermon #ChristianSermon #BibleStudy #WordOfGod #ChristianMessage #Sermon
