Jesus told a crowd that whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood has eternal life, and even His own disciples called it a hard saying. So what did He actually mean?
A young man asked Pastor Wayne about one of the most startling statements in the Gospels, a verse the church has debated for centuries. Rather than rehash historical theology, Wayne reads John 6:54 in its context: Jesus has just called Himself the bread of life, the true manna that gives not one more day of life but eternal life. Just like "born again," "the door," and "the good shepherd," Jesus uses a vivid picture to make us dig deeper. And He gives the answer Himself only a few verses earlier: "He who believes in Me has everlasting life." Wayne closes with what communion is, a holy celebration of what Christ has done, and asks the question the whole passage is built on: do you believe Jesus is your bread of life?
