I moved from Los Angeles to Chicago in September 2025, and I’m reflecting on my first year living in the Windy City as a 36-year-old Black creative woman. From adjusting to a new city and exploring Chicago’s neighborhoods to finding community, navigating a new chapter, and building a life on my own terms, this is what my first year in Chicago has looked like.
If you’re thinking about moving to Chicago, curious about what it’s like to live in Chicago as a Black woman, or just love a good lifestyle vlog, come spend some time with me! I’m sharing my honest experiences, the things I’ve learned, and how this city has shaped me over the past year.
As a photographer, social strategist, and creative, moving to Chicago has been about more than just changing cities. It’s been about making room for new experiences, reconnecting with myself, and figuring out what I want this next chapter of life to look like.
