Women in Business: Raise Your Prices

A few months ago, I raised my prices and immediately started wondering if I had gone too far. The funny thing is, the market had already given me plenty of evidence that my work was valuable. I was getting booked, turning down enquiries because I could only be in one place at a time, and reaching the point where my time and energy were becoming the actual limiting resources in my business. And still, the new number felt too big for me. In this video, I'm thinking through what actually had to change for that price to start feeling normal, and why I don't think “just raise your prices” is particularly useful advice if your internal software and external hardware haven't caught up yet. Because sometimes the business grows before your self-concept does. And for the women building businesses alongside jobs, careers, families and everything else, I especially want us to get a little more audacious about what we build, what we invest in and what we're willing to charge for it.
