Visit to Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation (NFMC) for the Inspection of the DOST Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and Commercialized Food Technologies Developed by the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan September 17, 2026 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation (NFMC) to inspect the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) implementation of the Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and Commercialized Food Technologies developed by the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on September 17, 2026. NFMC’s partnership with DOST began in 2009 when its predecessor company, Long Live Pharma, received assistance under SETUP to scale up production of Hyposol water disinfectant. In 2013, the company began adopting food technologies developed by DOST-FNRI, marking its transition to a nutrition-focused enterprise. Since then, the company has adopted approximately 40 DOST-developed technologies, including food technologies from DOST-FNRI and the DOST–Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI). These include Iron-Fortified Rice, Iron Rice Premix, Rice-Mongo (RIMO) Curls, enhanced Nutribun, high-protein crackers, vegetable cookies and ready-to-eat meals such as Chicken Arroz Caldo, Chicken Corn Soup and Ginisang Munggo. The DOST-assisted products have been used in government feeding and supplementary nutrition programs, as well as in disaster and emergency relief operations. In particular, the development of shelf-stable, ready-to-eat meals has provided a practical option for food distribution during emergencies, especially when conventional food preparation and storage are difficult. Through the partnership, government-developed food technologies have been translated into commercially produced products that reach communities across the country while supporting local employment and agricultural suppliers.
