Hello, I'm Welsh Man Walking and this is my hiking blog - www.welshmanwalking.co.uk We spent the weekend taking on the Platinum Route of the South Wales Three Peaks Trial in Abergavenny, centred in the Black Mountains of the Bannau Brycheiniog — and what a day it turned out to be. This isn’t your average walk. Three proper peaks back-to-back: Crug Fawr – steep, wild, and a serious wake-up call Pen Cerrig-Calch – big views, big climbs, and legs starting to feel it Sugar Loaf – the final push… and it definitely makes you earn it It’s a tough route, but one of the best mountain challenges you can do in South Wales. Proper variety, big landscapes, and that feeling at the end when you know you’ve dug deep. This video gives you a feel for the full day — the climbs, the views, the grind, and everything in between.
