The O'Brien Bike Boulevard Links Vital Bronx Connections Safely

Streetfilms got to meet up with local resident Michael Beltzer who biked us around some parts of Soundview and nearby neighborhoods which culminated with a tour of the new O'Brien Bike Boulevard in The Bronx. It is a great connector that links Pugsley Creek and Soundview Parks by adding in a trio of traffic-calming circles and other street improvements just recently installed by NYC DOT. It makes a street that once had higher speeds and more frequent traffic safer for pedestrians and bike riders. A local resident wanted to change thing and gathering hundreds of signatures at a local block party held every year on O'Brien and also during holiday events. It also nicely connects the Soundview Ave lane to the grid and gives bike riders a way to go north and south better. Oh and heads up to Transportation Alternatives who by connective synergy was holding a long Bronx bike ride that morning and told us when they would be rolling thru to grab a few shots of them as they passed thru!
