Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway - Victorian Weekend 2026 (DBLM Steam)

#FfestiniogandWelshHighlandRailway #FWHRVictorianWeekend #steam Details in the description below - and apologies for half the video using phone camera footage - owing to last minute issues with my video camera and microphone. Some of the film was shot in spectacular sunshine on a very warm autumnal Saturday and the rest in periods of drizzle and overcast conditions on the Sunday. The event was as memorable as expected - an absolute bonanza of narrow gauge steam activity with such great variety in locomotives, carriages and wagons - with associated attractions including the vintage car collection at Porthmadog and the model railway, miniature railway and live steam traction engines and road rollers at Minffordd. Highlight for me is the appearance of slate, gravity and goods trains and the lengthier mixed trains hauled by the Double-Fairlies. But the whole package scores very highly in the general league of steam galas across Britain, whether standard or narrow gauge. It is quite magical to have two adjacent railways offering such great variety, an intensive timetable, spectacular scenery - and all within a climate that offered both the best of summer and - in consecutive days - the dreary yet atmospheric images of autumn! Well done to all the volunteers and staff involved in the planning, marketing, organising and delivery of such a special event! (A few extra details - Welsh Pony failed late on the Saturday during its trip to and from Rhyd Du and was replaced by Prince on the Sunday - Prince being replaced by Linda - and Linda's workings covered by the diesel Criccieth Castle - hence the doubled headed diesel and Lilla filmed at Hafod y Llyn instead of the booked Linda and Lilla. Service trains included in the video - because both Lyd and Kalahari are just so special! And as some of you will be aware - the iphone captures some impressive still images although not quite as good for videos - at least when viewed on a PC. It could be that iphone video gives a good impression when played on some of the latest phones but loses it's quality on the monitor of older PCs - not that I'm any sort of expert on this matter! Many more videos in the DBLM Steam collection - with a link to the DBLM Steam Complete Playlist at the very end of the video and immediately below. And Thank You for viewing!    • DBLM Steam
