Inside My Africa Stamp Album | A Finished Album Tour

A look inside my finished Africa stamp album. In this short album tour, I show the finished cloth-covered album, the accompanying Album File booklet, and some of the ideas behind the page design. The collection currently contains 45 stamps, arranged across Morocco, South Africa, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Belgian Congo, Guinea and Rwanda. Rather than simply mounting the stamps on pages, I wanted the album to encourage closer looking. Each country begins with an introduction and some context, followed by chronological stamp pages and larger motif illustrations inspired by details found on the stamps themselves. I also included a few broader pages looking at Africa as a collection, how to read some of the information found on stamps, and themes such as nature and identity. In the video I stop at a few of my favourite spreads, including the Durban Post Office study and the Matadi river-port scene from Belgian Congo. I’m not a professional philatelist or album designer — this is simply how I’ve chosen to present and enjoy my own collection. The album is designed to grow, so new countries and stamps can be added over time while keeping the same visual structure.
