"Struttin' With Some Barbecue" - Lizzy & the Triggermen (Live at Joe's Pub)

Happy Fat Tuesday, Friends! Few people embody the spirit of New Orleans more than Louis Armstrong. He recorded this signature song, "Struttin' with Some Barbecue," back in 1927 with his killer band, Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five. The song was written by Lil Harden, a brilliant pianist, composer, bandleader, and singer. She and Louis met playing in King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band and went on to get married. Often this song gets credited to Louis Armstrong, alone. (Female composers seem to be woefully under-credited IMO). But Harden is the composer - and deserves the kudos. This recording is off of our latest album, Live at Joe's Pub . It features some of the hottest playing on the whole record. The solos are fire - from the legendary, John Allred, on trombone to multi-Grammy-winner Bobby Hawk on fiddle to our M.D., Nate Ketner, on sax. The band is swinging! Hope you dig!
