Fibreglass body hurdy-gurdy built from a viola case.

Having successfully built a gurdy from a violin case, I decided to make one based on a viola case. The case I bought on eBay turned out to be unsuitable because of the strongly arched lid which would not allow an axle so I turned it upside down and found that the arched lid became a super comfortable shallow lute type body. Next thing was to create a plug and then a fibreglass mould. This video demonstrates the resulting first casting. It has 3 octaves of D, drones at D, d and G. Trompette at d’.
