Set back from the riverbank on Sothearos Boulevard, stands the Royal Palace and adjacent Silver Pagoda. Arguably the most impressive of the city's attractions, The Royal Palace is well worth visiting its classic Khmer architecture, its ornate gilding and its tranquil French landscaped gardens. The Silver Pagoda is also well known for its elaborate silver-tiled floor and priceless Buddha statues. Gleaming in gold, the Royal Palace is one of Phnom Penh's most splendid architectural achievements. It is home to His Majesty Preah Bat smdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk and Her Majesty Preah Reach Akka-Mohesey Norodom Monineath. The palace was built in 1866 by His Majesty Preah Bat Norodom, great grandfather to our current King. It was built on the site of the old town. The complex is divided by walls into four main compounds. On the south side is the Silver Pagoda, to the north side is the Khemarin Palace and the central compound contains the Throne Hall and to the west is the private sector or the Inner Court. The palace buildings were built gradually over time, and some were dismantled and rebuilt as late as the 1960s. Some older buildings date back to the 19th century; Phnom Penh, Cambodia 2020. Shots were taken with GoPro Hero 7 Black 2.7K downsized to 1080p HD.
