This was one of the most spectacular days I've experienced in Switzerland as I travel to Stoos and take on the famous Stoos Ridge Walk, surrounded by breathtaking mountains, lakes and some truly unforgettable Alpine scenery. And the adventure begins before we've even reached the hiking trail with the incredible Stoosbahn, officially recognised as the world's steepest funicular railway. Opened in 2017, this remarkable railway tackles a maximum gradient of 110% — or 47.7 degrees — as it climbs approximately 744 metres from the valley to the beautiful car-free village of Stoos. From Stoos, I continue higher into the mountains before setting out on one of Switzerland's most famous panoramic hiking trails. The Stoos Ridge Walk follows the spectacular mountain ridge between Klingenstock and Fronalpstock, with dramatic drops and extraordinary views on either side. This is the kind of landscape Switzerland is famous for. As the trail follows the ridge, we're surrounded by magnificent Alpine peaks while far below us are the deep blue waters of Lake Lucerne and several smaller lakes scattered across Central Switzerland. On a clear day, the panorama seems almost endless. The route includes narrow ridge sections, steep climbs and descents, countless steps and some incredible viewpoints, but the reward is one breathtaking scene after another. Despite the dramatic surroundings, much of the trail is well prepared, with handrails and steps provided along steeper sections. Eventually, we reach Fronalpstock, standing at approximately 1,922 metres above sea level. The summit offers one of the finest viewpoints in Central Switzerland. From here, Lake Lucerne winds its way between the surrounding mountains far below, while peaks stretch towards the horizon in almost every direction. It's a spectacular reward at the end of the ridge hike — and the perfect place to stop, take in the scenery and appreciate just how far we've travelled. Thankfully, there's no need to hike all the way back down. For the final part of our adventure, we board the Fronalpstock chairlift for the spectacular descent towards Stoos. Floating high above the mountainside provides one last opportunity to enjoy the incredible scenery before returning to the village below. From the world's steepest funicular to one of Switzerland's most beautiful ridge walks, this really is an unforgettable day in the Swiss Alps. 📍 Journey Highlights • Riding the world's steepest funicular • The incredible Stoosbahn and its 110% gradient • Exploring the car-free village of Stoos • Journey into the mountains towards Klingenstock • Hiking the famous Stoos Ridge Walk • Spectacular views across Central Switzerland • Lake Lucerne from high above • Reaching Fronalpstock at around 1,922 metres • Panoramic Alpine scenery • Chairlift descent from Fronalpstock • Return to Stoos Whether you're planning to hike the Stoos Ridge yourself, visiting Switzerland or simply enjoy relaxing walking videos and spectacular mountain scenery, come along and experience one of the most memorable hikes in the Swiss Alps. 🇨🇭 Filmed in beautiful Central Switzerland 🥾 One of Switzerland's great panoramic hikes 🚞 Featuring the world's steepest funicular ⛰️ Almost 2,000 metres above sea level 🚡 Spectacular mountain descent 00:00 Preview 00:30 Stoosbahn 10:30 Stoos Ridge Hike 01:11:30 Fronalpstock chairlift
