I've had a game idea for about six months and no idea how to build it. So I typed it into Claude (Opus 5.5) and expected AI slop. This is the whole story: the first version, what it cost, everything that broke when I tried to make money, and the part the AI couldn't do without me.

CHAPTERS
I built a horror game in just one week. Watch the horror game development process, from pixel art design to implementing cloud saves.
This video covers the full creation cycle of Hollow Woods. I wanted to see if I could build a functional experience from scratch in seven days. You will see how I handled the pixel art, composed the music, and integrated specific game features like a shop system.
Along the way, I faced several technical hurdles that nearly derailed the project. I also discuss the reception of the initial release, including how a short clip managed to gain nearly 200 views. This breakdown is for anyone interested in the realities of an indie game devlog project.

ABOUT THE GAME
Hollow Woods is a pixel-art reverse-horror game. You are the thing in the woods. Hunt campers, mimic voices, wear a human face, and survive the hunters who come for you at night. Free, no download, works on phone and computer.
HOW IT WAS MADE
The game, the code, the art and the music were made with Claude Opus 5.5. I directed, tested and fixed. The voice in this video is AI-generated. The invoice and usage bar shown in the video are illustrations, not screenshots.
Tell me how many nights you survived, and what I should build next.
