The organ was built following the great fire of 1760, which severely damaged the Kapelkerk. Thanks to the efforts of the city of Alkmaar and the generous contribution of Johanna Geertruida le Chastelain, a new instrument could be built. The Müller organ was first played on 16 December 1762. More than 260 years later, music from the 18th century once again resounds on this magnificent historic instrument — a remarkable meeting between young organist Jacob Korevaar and an organ that still brings the sound world of Galuppi’s time to life.
