Video Game Gothic with Dr Efram Sera-Shriar

Efram's talk 'Battling Satan in Your Underpants: Censoring Capcom’s Ghosts ‘n Goblins Videogame during the Age of American Satanic Panic' will explore how and why the videogame studio Capcom censored a seemingly innocent game like Ghosts 'n Goblins for the American market during the heyday of 1980s Satanic Panic. Here are some suggested readings for before the session, as well as a very exciting game emulator where you can try out Ghosts n Goblins here. As always, these readings are optional and you can still attend the session if you don't get chance to read them.
