What You Need to Know to Get Ahead in College Baseball Recruiting

Understand the reality of college baseball recruiting. I explain why I focus on the player, not the family. When evaluating prospects, my philosophy is straightforward: I recruit the player, not their family. A college coach needs to know who they are actually getting, and that means looking at more than just athletic ability. I prioritize character traits like natural leadership, connection, and reliability as a teammate. Your social media presence matters just as much as your stats. I have personally declined to recruit players based on their online activity because it reveals who they are when no one is watching. Understanding these standards is a critical to your player development and to navigating the recruiting process successfully.
