A football-focused recruiting checklist is circulating on X, and baseball families are taking notes. Tonight we go through it box by box: size, position need, grades, social profile, and film.
Half of it holds. Grades are the box most families skip, and the NCAA core GPA counts, not the transcript. The position need is real, with Division I rosters capped at 34.
The other half doesn’t translate to baseball. College baseball coaches aren’t sorting highlight reels. They read production: a student-athlete who has played, has numbers, and has a coach who will vouch for him.
Tonight we cover:
NCAA core GPA floors for Division I and II, and why core and transcript GPA's differ
What’s new this fall: Division III eligibility center registration and test scores dropping off the Division I and II requirements.
Why academic money and athletic money behave differently
Position need in the portal era
Size, skill, speed, and school, and why coaches read the slope, not the snapshot
Building a school list across every level and reaching coaches the right way
The five-in-five eligibility model and what it means for playing time
Bring your questions. Tell me in the chat which box matters most for your son.
