Why are so many young people in the UK struggling to find work?

When the Chancellor unveils his budget tomorrow many unemployed young people will be hoping there's something in it for them. The prime minister has warned the UK faces an "economic catastrophe and moral failure" with nearly one million people aged 16 to 14 not in education, employment or training. And he wants the government to invest in helping these so-called "Neets" succeed through work rather than stay stuck in the benefits system. ITV News has visited some of the areas with the UK's highest levels of unemployment and deprivation and the lowest level of educational attainment. We heard from some of the young people who are desperate for a career and confidence so they can break out of the vicious cycle of part-time work and benefits. And we heard from businesses who want to help but say the government needs to give more financial support to apprenticeship schemes. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram:   / itvnews   Follow ITV News on Facebook:   / itvnews   Follow ITV News on X:   / itvnews
