LONESOME FRIDAYS 2026 #2 - Down Where the Drunkards Roll

Here’s a great Richard Thompson song, sung to great effect by Linda Thompson in 1974. I had fun sort of triangulating our three vocal styles and coaxing some droney grit out of the ol’ D18. Like if Richard had grown up in Kentucky, or maybe Seattle. And hoo boy that last verse is a kicker. Coming up I’ve got three NYC shows I’m really looking forward to. First is the Brooklyn Folk Festival on Nov. 7 — trio with Bruce Molsky & Tony Trischka. Then on Nov. 23 I’ll be at Cafe Wha with Tony plus Alex Hargreaves, Jacob Jolliff, and Jared Engel, paying tribute to the 60th anniversary of Bill Monroe’s 1966 Gaslight Cafe show (across the street!). And on Dec. 13 I continue my bi-monthly residency at Jalopy Theatre with a MD-Jacob Jolliff a duo show. #richardthompson #lindathompson #richardandlindathompson
