LONESOME FRIDAYS 2025 #2 - I Live In The Past (Bill Monroe)

Here’s a Bill Monroe number I got from a live recording featuring Richard Greene and Peter Rowan, two young non-Southern counterculturists who took up with Monroe in the mid-1960s and helped re-energize his music. Also, I’m a sucker for a good power waltz. This song is credited to Virginia Stauffer who happened to be Bill’s girlfriend at the time. I don’t know whether she actually wrote it or if he gave it to her (that's a thing he would do) but either way it sure sounds like a Bill Monroe song. #lonesomefridays *iliveinthepast
