INSECURITY ON ISIOLO–KIPSING ROAD LEAVES SAMBURU COMMUNITY IN FEAR AS RESIDENTS APPEAL FOR URGENT SECURITY INTERVENTION Residents of Mlango, Ngare Ndare Bridge and Kipsing areas in Isiolo County are raising alarm over escalating insecurity along the Isiolo–Kipsing Road, a vital route connecting communities to markets, healthcare facilities and other essential services. According to residents, armed militia have repeatedly blocked the road, particularly on market days, disrupting business activities and putting the lives of innocent civilians at risk. Traders travelling to purchase livestock and those transporting agricultural produce to sell at local markets have been forced to abandon their activities due to fear of attacks. The situation has reportedly taken a tragic turn following the death of an expectant mother on Sunday, 31st October 2026. According to local accounts, the woman fell ill and, out of fear of possible attacks along the road to Isiolo, her family opted to seek medical assistance approximately 150 kilometres away instead of travelling the 15 kilometres to Isiolo town. Tragically, she died along the way while being transported on a motorcycle. This heartbreaking incident highlights the devastating consequences of insecurity, where residents are not only deprived of their freedom of movement and livelihoods but are also forced to risk their lives while seeking emergency medical care. The affected communities are now appealing to the national government, the Ministry of Interior, security agencies and local leaders to urgently intervene and restore security along the Isiolo–Kipsing Road. No community should live in fear while accessing markets, hospitals and other essential services. No mother should lose her life simply because the road to the nearest hospital is unsafe. The residents are calling for immediate and sustained security operations to protect lives, restore normalcy and guarantee safe movement for all road users.
