Pipe Band leads Lonach Highlanders march out through Strathdon for 2025 Lonach Gathering in Scotland

The Lonach Highlanders begin their march out through Strathdon in the Cairngorms National Park, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This was from the village of Bellabeg during the 2025 (182nd) Lonach Highland Gathering & Games on Saturday 23rd August 2025. For more from this event and across Scotland see our page ‪@BraemarMedia‬ The march is led by retired Policeman James Wilson Mitchell on his bicycle, then the 3 Lonach Highlanders with their Lochaber axes, then the Drum Majors and Lonach Pipe band, followed by Sir James Forbes, Patron of the Lonach Highland and Friendly Society. The Lonach pipe band were playing Corriechoillie's 43rd Welcome to the Northern Meeting and Drum Majors salute the War Memorial as they pass by. The Highlanders, with their ceremonial Swords, Lochaber axes and eight-foot long pikes, are all members of Clan Forbes, Clan Gordon and Clan Wallace. At the rear is Kelpie the Lonach horse, ready to carry any weary Highlanders.
