We put my JNR 5 Chime Whistle on an American Steam Locomotive! | Arcade & Attica Railroad 18

Please set to HD for best viewing. Early this year, I got my hands on an item that I have wanted for over a decade.... an authentic JGR/JNR 5 Chime steam whistle! I imported it from Japan and had some restoration work done on it, however I, of course, really wanted to know what it sounded like. Thanks to my friends at the Arcade & Attica Railroad, come along as we learn the history of the whistle, explain what needed to happen to get it back into working order, and finally install it on ALCO 2-8-0 Consolidation number 18. This video includes tons of footage of the whistle in service on 18, both taken lineside and from on board the train. The whistle ended up spending the entire day on 18, and by the end of the day it seemed as though so many people at the A&A enjoyed it that I was starting to wonder if I would actually get it back!
