Rand Water warns of looming water crisis amid massive demand

Rand Water is warning of a looming water crisis as excessive consumption by several municipalities places the bulk water supply system under severe pressure. In a statement issued on 20 October, the utility said it is pumping at maximum capacity, but demand continues to rise. It has called on municipalities to reduce consumption, warning that supply could be curtailed if overconsumption continues.
