A Beautiful Spirit

A Beautiful Spirit Some songs tell a love story. This one simply celebrates a person. A Beautiful Spirit was written to capture something much simpler than a story about two people — the beauty that can be found within another human being. Not simply physical beauty, although there is a beautiful smile at the centre of many of the memories behind this song. It is about the person behind that smile. Her warmth and kindness. Her strength and determination. Her vulnerability. Her laughter. Her ability to find happiness in little things. And the playful spirit that appears when she simply allows herself to be free. One of the images behind the song is of her running barefoot along the shoreline, chasing the waves and laughing as they chase her back — moonlight across the water, white foam around her feet, and little moments of pure joy appearing everywhere. That is the spirit I wanted this music to capture. There is also a mirror at the heart of the song because mirrors are remarkably poor judges of human beauty. They can show us a face, but they cannot show courage, kindness, resilience, laughter, tenderness or the effect one person can have on the world around them simply by being themselves. That thought eventually became the closing words: There is beauty in your smile, But the mirror only sees the start, For the beauty that shines brightest Is the spirit in your heart. Beautiful spirit… Shine just as you are. This isn't intended to be a sad song. It is a celebration. A reminder that sometimes the most beautiful things about us are the very things we struggle to see in ourselves. And to the beautiful spirit who inspired it: Never let a mirror tell you your worth. 🦋 #ABeautifulSpirit #OriginalSong #OriginalMusic #InnerBeauty #BeautifulSpirit #Moonlight #OceanWaves #MusicFromTheHeart #CinematicMusic #BeautifulMemories
