I'm at twice the level i was on normal when i fought this guy and the battle was actually harder. the balancing in this game is insane. the problem is that your stats basically don't increase as you level up; the only way to get stronger is with better equipment, and once you reach the end of the game, you're getting better stuff for these optional bosses at a slower rate, which means you're not getting stronger. I've grinded up 60 levels and the battles with the angels in Vinnheim have not gotten any shorter. I'm NOT kidding. So on Mania, your only hope for challenges like Niflheim is to be as strategic as possible. Here's some of what I do to make this very difficult challenge easier: Avoid fighting any enemies except on rout floors, on Mania battles take forever and you lose soulfire if the battles are too long (by the stupid standards of the game). Equip the Kusanagi Blade and Topaz on Lloyd, this gives him strength against Light weak and undead enemies and these effects stack, and most enemies in Niflheim are weak to both, like the Hell Knight, and KB is his strongest weapon. Use Quartz and Flare Bottles or other attack boosting potions, etc a lot in the final five floors if forced into a rout map to decrease the time taken on battles, to increase your damage and exploit weaknesses. Also make your best chef (mine is Genis, as yours also will be unless you use Regal) cook Paella after every fight to give a boost to your stats. Use Unison Attacks whenever possible, there's no downside to this ever, it freezes time during Compound Unison attacks, you get a huge boost in grade for every UA, and you do a lot of damage to one enemy. Equip the Laser Blade on Kratos since it's Light element, similar to with Lloyd. You could also just spam White Quartzes on him but those are super rare. I think I only got one in this entire playthrough and it was in Niflheim. Raine, straight up. She's a late game queen. Tanks magic, heals super well, uses super strong Light magic. Spam Revitalize and light magic. Genis for Prism Stars with Raine, Light magic unison, best in the game.
