When me and my sister first played this game when I was nine years old, we joked all the time about Forcystus having a corndog arm. What is he firing out of it? We weren't smart enough to come up with that then, and my stupid adult brain doesn't have that imagination anymore.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THIS FIGHT:
Make sure you have wind-resistant accessories! Forcystus is ridiculously powerful in both his physical and magical attacks, and can do thousands of points of damage with one Corn Dog Combo or Air Blade. Luckily, Kratos was equipped with a Thunder Cape before he left the party (he comes with entirely unchangeable gear in this part of the game with entirely new materials except for his accessories that he had before leaving), I had a Thunder Cape to give to Lloyd, and I gave Raine the Opal, but that still meant that poor Genis had nothing to guard against wind magic, so he was really vulnerable in this fight. I still went ahead and did some grinding up to Lv 80+ just to be safe. Seems that Mania kinda forces you to grind up every once in a while no matter what. Lv 90 seems to be overpowered in some scenarios but kinda weak in others, even still. Even Lv 100 was kinda vulnerable in the Great Tree dungeon.
I wonder if you should even waste your time attacking the Exbones like I did in this fight. All they can cast is Wind Blade, and if you're not pressuring Forcystus, he's wreaking havoc on your party. They don't pressure you like the Energy Stones do in the Kvar fight, so I have a feeling in hindsight that you should just ignore them. At the absolute worst they might interrupt your combos against Forcystus but I don't think they can do much else. Forcystus is the real tough guy in this fight, and in a way makes for a perfect conclusion to the first disk: a formidable opponent brought up at the beginning of the game and then defeated exactly halfway through.
That said I hated the fight for making me stop to grind up, for the fact that I did so well on this run and still got a horrible hit to my GRADE, and the stupid way he comes back up and the weird redemption story they tried to make doesn't excuse how horrible he was. DID WE FORGET MARBLE? I didn't.
