One difficult incident or moment doesn't have to ruin your whole day. A stressful meeting, sharp comment, mistake at work or a uncomfortable parenting moment can go round and round in your head for hours, sometimes days! But one of the clearest signs that your resilience is growing is that you begin to recover from these moments faster. Difficult experiences still affect you but they don't knock you off course for as long. You find your way back to calm, perspective and emotional steadiness more quickly. In Sign #2 of 10 Signs Your Resilience Is Growing, we're going deeper than the usual idea of resilience as simply “bouncing back.” Sometimes what makes an experience so difficult to recover from isn't only what happened but what we think - consciously or subconsciously - that experience means about us. Feedback, even in the form of a raised eyebrow or a passing comment, can mean “Maybe I'm not capable" or “They don't approve of me.” That mistake as a mum may mean “I'm failing at motherhood.” A mistake at work threatens our identity as competent, reliable or good at what we do and suddenly we carry both the event and the meaning we've attached to it. As your mental muscles of resilience become stronger, you can still have a difficult day but you can do so without it mean something about who you are. You can make a mistake without that mistake turning into a verdict on your value. Perhaps you can disappoint someone without allowing their response to determine what you believe about yourself. ✨ In this video, you'll discover: • Why recovering faster is an important sign of emotional resilience • Why some difficult moments affect us for much longer than others • How identity and self-worth influence our ability to bounce back • Why a small setback can sometimes trigger such a big stress response • What your nervous system may be trying to protect when something feels threatening • Why resilience doesn't mean pushing through or pretending you're fine • What resilience researcher George Bonanno's work can teach us about adaptation and recovery • A practical question to help you separate what happened from the story you're telling yourself about it Resilience doesn't mean becoming unaffected by life but when you are resilient, your recovery back to ease and steadiness is so much quicker and easier. This is Sign #2 of 10 Signs Your Resilience Is Growing. If you're doing the work of building your resilience, these are the small everyday changes worth noticing and celebrating. 🚀 Build the Mental Muscles of Resilience For Individuals Feeling frazzled, reactive, or struggling to switch off?
