Don't Drop the Cake is somehow one of the most stressful cake deliveries I've ever experienced. What starts as a simple mission to deliver a birthday cake quickly turns into a terrifying journey through the world of the dead, where dropping the cake means death. In this Don't Drop the Cake gameplay, I have to balance a cake on a board while navigating dangerous rooms, creepy monsters, buttons, traps, explosions, and some of the slowest movement known to mankind. And yes, somehow I'm expected to do ALL of that without dropping the cake. The game starts off ridiculous enough, with me struggling to control this man's incredibly wobbly hands, but things get much scarier once the monsters start appearing. The flower monster, the arm freak, the strange creatures, and the terrifying moments where I have to stay completely still had me questioning why I agreed to play this game in the first place. There are also plenty of chaotic and funny moments, including naming the little blob creatures, accidentally becoming a professional skier, refusing to use the brakes, comparing myself to Amazon delivery drivers, and repeatedly yelling at my character to KEEP THE CAKE STEADY. But Don't Drop the Cake isn't just a funny horror game. The story gets surprisingly emotional. I'm trying to reach my daughter, who is waiting for the birthday cake I promised her, while slowly learning the truth about the world of the dead and what happens to people who stay there too long. And then comes the biggest twist of the entire game: the person guiding me wasn't telling me the whole truth. What started as a ridiculous cake delivery becomes a story about unfinished business, regret, family, and getting one last chance to see someone you love. If you enjoy horror games, indie horror, funny gaming moments, story-driven games, scary games, jump scares, chaotic gameplay, and genuine streamer reactions, you'll probably enjoy this Don't Drop the Cake playthrough.
