Municipal Council Kulgam Launches Mega Drive to Remove Illegal Hoardings and Banners from Government Properties
KULGAM: In a major step towards maintaining the cleanliness and proper upkeep of government properties, the Municipal Council Kulgam today launched a mega anti-encroachment drive across several locations in the district to remove illegally installed private hoardings, banners and signboards.
During the special drive, teams of the Municipal Council removed private advertisements, banners and signboards installed without permission on government properties, including boundary walls, gates and buildings of various government institutions.
The drive was conducted to prevent the unauthorised use of public property for private advertisements and to ensure that government premises remain clean and free from illegal installations.
Speaking on the occasion, In-charge of the drive, Mashooq Ahmad, said that the special drive was carried out under the directions of higher authorities and would continue in the coming days.
He further stated that the department has issued clear instructions that no individual, business establishment or organisation is permitted to install any hoarding, banner or signboard on government property without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority.
He warned that strict action would be initiated against violators and anyone found indulging in such unauthorised activities would be booked under the relevant provisions of law.
The Municipal Council has appealed to the general public, shopkeepers and private establishments to follow the prescribed rules and obtain necessary permissions before installing advertisements or signboards at any location.
The department reiterated its commitment to ensuring the proper management of public spaces and protecting government properties from unauthorised commercial use.
