I’m building a nonprofit with AI... and here’s what nobody told me. Some days AI helps me do in hours what used to take me weeks. Other days? I lose an entire Thursday trying to figure out what I just did to my own website. 😂 In this episode of HOP’s + AI + Me, I’m sharing the real lessons I learned this week while building HOP’s CommUNITY, HOP’s Shop, a fundraising campaign, and exploring the long-term vision for HOP’s Homes. One of the biggest lessons? Slow down. Sometimes the answer is not a better prompt. Sometimes the answer is: One image at a time. One change at a time. Understand what you’re changing. Know how to undo it. Because when AI helps you move faster than you understand the work underneath it, things can get interesting very quickly. In this episode, we talk about: • why “one image at a time” became a rule • learning to understand my own website setup • domain names, hosting, DNS, and why I need to ask more questions before changing things • working around AI usage limits without stopping the work • why I still think AI is 100% worth it • how AI is helping me create faster than I ever could before • what we actually finished on the HOP’s CommUNITY website • the never-ending battle with T-shirt files • my long-term vision for HOP’s Homes • learning about affordable housing and nonprofit-development partnerships • preparing HOP’s CommUNITY to become official • fundraising for the organization • the idea of a limited founding T-shirt • what it feels like when something that lived in your head starts becoming real I want to be clear about HOP’s Homes: It is a vision I am researching and learning about. I am not saying HOP’s CommUNITY is currently building homes for families. I’m learning how affordable housing works, how nonprofits partner with developers, how public programs participate, and what it would take to eventually move in that direction. That’s part of what this channel is about. I’m not pretending I already know how to do everything. I’m learning in public. I’m asking questions. I’m making mistakes. I’m fixing them. And every week, there is a little less imagining... and a little more building. This week, HOP’s became more real. There’s a website. There are programs. There’s a fundraising campaign. There’s a store. There’s a bank account. There’s a bigger vision. And yes... there are still about 700 things left to fix. 😂 But we’re moving. If you’re building something of your own, learning AI, starting a nonprofit, starting a business, or figuring things out as you go, subscribe and come along. You’ve got a front-row seat. Learn more: https://hops.community Shop HOP’s: https://hopscommunity.store And I need your opinion: If you were supporting a brand-new organization you believed in, what donation level would feel right for a limited founding T-shirt? $50? $75? $100? Apparently, you’re on the fundraising committee now. 😂 Let me know in the comments. #HOPsCommunity #BuildingWithAI #ChatGPT #NonprofitJourney #BuildInPublic #AffordableHousing #HOPsHomes #HOPsShop #WomenBuildingBusinesses #AIForBeginners
