I Didn't Rebuild My Resume. I Rebuilt Myself.

When the paycheck stopped, I didn't rebuild my resume—I rebuilt me. At first, I thought rebuilding after a layoff meant figuring out what job I was going to do next. But I eventually realized I had deeper work to do. I had to grieve the loss of my career identity. Reimagine who I was outside of my job. Reset boundaries. Give myself permission to be a beginner again. And, perhaps most importantly, stop measuring my worth by what I was able to put on a resume. This wasn't a quick transformation. It was a process of reconnecting with myself and figuring out who I wanted to become—not simply trying to get back to who I was before. If you've experienced a job loss, career transition, divorce, empty nest, retirement, or any other season that has disrupted the identity you built your life around, maybe you can relate. Sometimes rebuilding your life doesn't begin with a new plan. Sometimes it begins with rebuilding the person who will carry that plan forward. The paycheck stopped. But I didn't.
