This video showcases the conversion and modernisation of a Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel (MPSV), transforming it to support a new subsea geotechnical investigation campaign. For this project, our engineering and production teams designed, fabricated, installed and commissioned a bespoke Launch and Recovery System (LARS) for a Giant Piston Corer, specialised equipment used to recover seabed sediment samples for offshore geotechnical surveys and site investigations. The project was executed as a complete turnkey solution. Following fabrication and successful workshop testing at our facilities, the system was installed on board, mechanically and structurally integrated with the vessel’s existing equipment, and fully commissioned to meet the client’s operational requirements. Projects like this demonstrate how Tenerife Shipyards combines engineering, fabrication and vessel integration capabilities to deliver complex conversions that extend the operational value of existing assets while preparing them for new offshore missions. As offshore energy, marine research and subsea infrastructure continue to evolve, vessel conversions have become a strategic alternative to newbuilds, reducing investment costs, shortening delivery times and accelerating project readiness. At Tenerife Shipyards, we are proud to help our clients unlock new capabilities through practical engineering and reliable execution. #TenerifeShipyards #ShipRepair #ShipConversion #MPSV #Offshore #Subsea #MarineEngineering #Geotechnical #LARS #Engineering #OceanTechnology
