the first snow fell and everyone went home | dark academia piano

Three candles on the long oak table in the Reading Room. Snow on the arched windows. Three hours of slow piano, cello and strings for study, reading and writing. Candlemas College is an old university, snowed in for the winter. Everyone has gone home. You stayed. A book is left open where you stopped. The tea is still warm. Somewhere above you, the clock tower still keeps time — once at the first hour, and once again at the second. Past the last lamp, the shelves go on into the dark. · · · THIS SESSION — THE READING ROOM Sparse solo piano as you settle in. Cello and a low string section through the deep middle hours. Then back to a single piano, thinning out until the last of it goes out. · · · HOW TO LISTEN Headphones or low volume in a quiet room. Set it running and leave it. Nothing here asks for your attention — it is made to sit underneath the work, not in front of it. · · · CANDLEMAS COLLEGE One building, one winter, a different room each night — the library, the reading room, the clock tower, the empty dormitory. ▶ All sessions:    • Candlemas College — Winter Sessions | Dark...   New rooms every Thursday.
