Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds - The Eve of the War 'Idealised' Mix

I was tempted to call this the 'Capybara Mix', but I resisted. The idea for this initially started a few weeks ago. I was talking to the ThisGeneration channel about how we consider the 2018/2022 shows the best in terms of the arrangement of The Eve of the War, or words to that effect. The idea was at first, to take the best parts of both and merge them together. But then... I got carried away. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of the 2025 version of this song. In fact, it's probably my least favourite. It sounds so empty and it's stripped back so much, I really can't stand it. So, I thought, what if I did my own take on what I'd want it to be? My favourite thing about the 2012 - 2022 versions is that they feel like a natural evolution. Each one builds on one another, and the changes feel justified and to the benefit of the song. 2025, however, feels like one step forwards and ten steps back. Hopefully with this mix, I continued the progression from 2022. I used the 2018 and 2022 shows as the basis, and used elements of the 2025 tour I liked. Admitedly, that's not many. Mainly the harpsichord and the acoustic guitar. There's also some bits I added in from the 2006 live performance, and a little nod to the Dominion show. I didn't include the 2025 string arrangement as it was just a change for the sake of a change, so I stuck with the 2018-2022 arrangement. It sounds better anyway. I'm sure I'll listen back to this in two weeks and wish I did things differently and added X, Y and Z! The curse of The Eve of the War...
