Be Careful Who You Keep Close | Proverbs 22:24-25

The people you keep closest to you can influence you more than you realize. Sitting on the front porch watching one ewe repeatedly find her way through the electric fence, Cody noticed something else: another sheep had started following her. That brought Proverbs 22:24–25 to mind: “Make no friendship with an angry man, And with a furious man do not go, Lest you learn his ways And set a snare for your soul.” One sheep learns to ignore the boundary, and before long another one follows. People aren't all that different. That doesn't mean we stop loving people or sharing the Gospel with those who need Jesus. But Scripture does tell us to pay attention to the people we allow closest to us. Who are your go-to people? Who influences you? And where are they leading you? Sometimes the company we keep can slowly teach us habits, attitudes, and ways of living that we never intended to pick up. Something to think about this week. We love y'all.
