Large cracks have appeared in the earthen embankment, while strong river currents have uprooted trees and swept them into the river. The damage has raised concern among riverside villagers, particularly after several areas of Aradi, Nandapur, Sundarpur and Olag panchayats were affected during the previous flood. With further riverbank erosion reported, residents have demanded immediate and permanent measures to protect the embankment. The Water Resources Department has said that a team has inspected the site and that work will be undertaken there.
